Quantum Stealth System
Overview
The Quantum Stealth System in Mind On revolves around masking one's consciousness and physical presence within the quantum layer. Unlike traditional stealth, which focuses solely on line-of-sight and sound, Quantum Stealth involves managing "Consciousness Signature" to avoid detection by both sentient observers and quantum-sensitive security systems.
Core Loop
- Observe: Use Quantum Sight to identify patrol paths and consciousness-detection fields.
- Mask: Activate abilities or items to dampen your consciousness signature or phase-shift.
- Infiltrate: Navigate through environments, avoiding physical and metaphysical detection.
- Extract/Strike: Complete the objective or perform a silent consciousness-takedown.
Mechanics
- Consciousness Signature (CS): A dynamic value representing how "loud" your mind is in the quantum layer. Higher CS makes you easier to detect by Quantum Wardens and sensitive NPCs.
-
Detection Meters:
- Visual: Standard line-of-sight.
- Quantum: Detection based on CS and proximity to sensors.
- Phase-Shifting: Temporarily becoming intangible to pass through physical barriers, at the cost of high CS generation when exiting.
- Environmental Anchors: Certain objects can be used to "ground" your signature, making you nearly invisible while stationary.
Scaling
- Early Game: Focus on physical cover and basic masking items like the Void Shroud.
- Mid Game: Integration of Mind Touch to distract guards or temporarily disable sensors.
- Late Game: Mastery of phase-shifting and permanent CS reduction through Ascension-related upgrades.
Integration
- Combat: Stealth allows for "Consciousness Snuffing," removing enemies from the quantum choir without alerting others.
- Abilities: Directly tied to Quantum Sight and Mind Touch.
- Items: Enhanced by tools like the Void Shroud and Neural Interface Spike.
Design Notes
- Balance is maintained by making high-power stealth abilities generate "Quantum Fatigue," preventing indefinite invisibility.
- The system should reward players for understanding the "vibe" of a room—using the quantum layer to feel where observers are looking.
