The Architects are the enigmatic creators of the Quantum Layer and, by extension, the current iteration of reality. They predated the Big Bang and designed the universe as a container for consciousness.

History

Little is known of their origin. They appear to have existed in a state of pure information before creating the physical universe. After completing their "Great Work," they vanished in an event known as The Departure.
